From stimulus-synchronised EEG recording to comparative analysis
NeuroScreen brings together the recording from a compatible Muse headband, the stimulus material, event markers, quality control and the history of results. One environment for single, repeated and multi-person sessions.
4 EEG channels · 256 Hz · Chrome or Edge · Web Bluetooth · no drivers to install
One coherent session — from stimulus to result
Connect the Muse in a supported browser, start a defined stimulus material and record EEG together with event markers. The recording, the quality information and the result of the analysis all land in your history without merging data from several tools by hand.
Pick a test or prepare a protocol
Start with a ready-made test from the platform's shelf, or add your own film, audio recording or image sequence and define event markers on its timeline.
Check electrode contact
Before the recording starts, the platform shows the electrode contact indicators for each of the four channels. The session can only begin once the signal is stable.
Record the session
Connect a compatible Muse headband directly to Chrome or Edge. The EEG signal, the presentation of the material and the markers are placed on one shared timeline.
Go to the result
Once processed, the EEG recording, the quality indicators, the session parameters and the result of the analysis are attached to the participant and to one specific version of the protocol.
Analyses that match the protocol
NeuroScreen does not give every recording one universal interpretation. What the result covers depends on the type of session, the defined events, the method applied and the quality of the data.
ERP in platform tests and on your own protocol
In tests based on the oddball paradigm the platform splits the EEG recording into segments relative to the event markers, computes the averaged waveforms and reports the amplitude and latency of the P300 component according to a defined computation rule. The same analysis covers your own material if you mark it as an oddball protocol and the markers meet the requirements checked before publication (number and proportion of stimuli, intervals). A result on your own protocol is compared only with your own sessions on the same version of the markers. Own materials without that mark are analysed for similarity measures.
Amplitude and latency are parameters of a measurement. They are not on their own a measure of attention, processing speed or general cognitive state.
Comparisons across repeated measurements
For sessions run under the same protocol, the platform sets the values of selected parameters against the previous and the first measurement, and against a reference measurement you choose yourself. Every compared session keeps its own quality indicators.
A difference between measurements does not in itself point to its cause, its clinical meaning or the effect of training or therapy.
Similarity measures between participants
In sessions with a shared start the platform aligns the recordings on one timeline and computes defined similarity measures of the EEG signals — for individual pairs and for the whole group.
The value of a measure refers to a specific method, set of channels and time interval. It is not evidence of communication between brains, nor of matching emotions, intentions or other mental states.
In the making: the reference database
Once a protocol reaches a sufficient number of measurements, the database is meant to allow a descriptive comparison of a result with a defined reference group. Data will enter the database only on the basis of a separate, voluntary consent.
The database will not be a source of clinical norms, and a comparison with a reference group will not serve to diagnose or assess health.
From a single session to multi-person measurements
The same system of protocols and history handles repeated measurements, studies on your own materials and sessions with participants in different locations.
Repeated measurements
Run further sessions with the same person under an established protocol and compare the results with a chosen reference measurement.
Your own materials and markers
Use your own film, audio or image sequence. Markers tie fragments of the EEG recording to specific events on the timeline of the material.
Multi-person sessions with a coordinated start
The platform coordinates the start of the same material for participants in different locations and records the timing parameters of every session.
Asynchronous sessions
Participants can also complete the same protocol independently, at a time of their choosing. The related sessions and results stay available in one panel.
Quality and reproducibility stored with the result
Every session keeps the context needed to judge the result: information about electrode contact, recording quality, the version of the protocol and how the material was actually presented.
Recording quality
The platform stores EEG quality indicators for every channel and shows them together with the result. A quality mark describes the recording, not the participant; reduced quality may limit what can be analysed or compared.
Quality of stimulus presentation
Dropped frames and timing deviations of the markers are stored with the session and shown at the result together with the thresholds, so the course of the presentation can be taken into account when judging the result.
Versioning of protocols
Once a protocol is published, its material, markers and analysis version stay unchanged. Every result keeps the information about the version it was computed from.
Audit log
Uploads of materials, granting and withdrawal of consent, publications and invitations are recorded in an event log with a hash chain.
Participants, consent and data in one place
Panels bring together invitations, consent, sessions and results. The organiser defines the scope of access, and the participant learns the applicable rules before the measurement begins.
Participant panel
The history of invitations, sessions and results stays attached to one panel. Sessions can be filtered by participant, status, time slot and whether a result is available.
Taking part without an account
An invited participant can open the invitation link, complete the required consent forms and start a session without registering an account of their own.
Access control
The organiser decides who may see the results and the materials. Files are not publicly available, and participants reach them only under a valid invitation.
Data protection and export
EEG recordings are pseudonymised and stored on servers in the European Union. Data can be exported as JSON; the rules for deleting it are described in the privacy policy.
NeuroScreen Professional — repeated measurements without collating results by hand
NeuroScreen Professional is meant for neurofeedback practitioners and research teams running repeated measurements with many participants.
- session history and control points per participant;
- remote invitations to a measurement;
- reports covering the protocol, data quality and the change in results;
- flagging of sessions that need a quality check.
Try NeuroScreen on your own protocol
Create an account, prepare the material, the markers and the participant panel, and connect the headband only before the first recording.
Using the platform for your own, non-commercial purposes is free of charge at present and requires no card details. Institutional and commercial use, and the NeuroScreen Professional pilot, are arranged individually.
NeuroScreen is used to record and analyse EEG for research and wellness purposes. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, it does not interpret results clinically and it does not generate therapeutic recommendations.
