Accessibility statement

Scope

This statement applies to the website neuroscreen.de and all of its subpages: the home page, the legal section, the user account (sign-in, profile, consents, results) and the screen on which a measurement runs.

Conformance status

NeuroScreen is largely conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.2 at level AA — the level the European standard EN 301 549 also refers to. The items listed under “Non-accessible content” are excepted.

The layout is fully responsive: pages work from a window width of 320 pixels without horizontal scrolling and tolerate text enlarged to 200 per cent.

What this means in practice

• Every page can be operated entirely from the keyboard; the keyboard focus is visible and is never hidden behind the bar at the top.
• Each page starts with a link that skips straight to the main content.
• Text meets the required contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1; controls and icons that carry information meet at least 3:1.
• No information is conveyed by colour alone: form errors are also stated in words, and signal quality on the measurement screen also carries a symbol.
• Form fields are labelled; an error is tied to the field it belongs to and is described in the language of the page.
• Signing in works without a password, through a link sent by e-mail — no puzzle and no memory test.
• The graphic on the home page and the clock in the footer stay still as soon as the operating system is set to “reduce motion”; the clock can also be paused.
• Data tables do not break the layout: they scroll inside their own frame, by keyboard as well.

Non-accessible content

• The measurement itself. An EEG test requires wearing a headband and watching a film. For blind people this part of the service is unusable because of the method. Everything else — the account, results, documents, withdrawal and deletion — is not.
• Films used as stimuli have no captions. They contain no speech; their purpose is to trigger a brain response, not to convey content. As soon as a stimulus with spoken words is used, captions will be provided.
• The administration area and developer tools (the admin interface, addresses under /dev/) are open to staff only and are not part of the public service. They have not been tested against level AA.
• Editorially maintained legal texts: very wide tables may require horizontal scrolling inside the table on small screens.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared on 13 August 2026. It is based on a self-assessment: an automated check of all public pages and of the user account against the criteria named above, together with manual testing using the keyboard, at 320 pixels of width and at 200 per cent text enlargement. No independent audit has been carried out so far.
